VISIBLE PROOF OF HOW A CHARGE OF AGG. MURDER IS NOT APPLICABLE TO A JUVENILE
- An analysis by D., Founder of Rightful Justice for Our Youth
The Juvenile sentencing grid below shows that the Sentence a child would receive for the highest charge possible under the JRA (juvenile) system, is Murder in the First, and would today amount to180 weeks to age 21 (highlighted in yellow).
Compare this to the Adult Sentencing grids: here, Murder in the First carries a range of 220-300 months, but the charge of Aggravated Murder in the First carries a sentence of Life Without Parole/Death Penalty (highlighted).
The reason for this comparison is to emphasize that Aggravated Murder cannot in any way be deemed a possible charge when a child is arrested for a crime – and thus doesn't allow for a decline under the charge of Aggravated Murder in the First.
